I have a feeling I am going to love it too. I am yet to have a chance to listen to HD650. Some of us are still searching to find or to replicate that sound signature we love in today’s headphones. it defies what other thinks or what measurement-it provides, in front of us. Thank you Lieven for the enlightment, sorry for not presenting it clearly on my question but you hit it dead center, as I mentioned on my reply above to Mike’s, that personal feeling, to have had a chance to listen to that ONE favorite headphone, is always there in our mind (no matter what we have done and what we are going to go to through on our journey listening to headphones).

I would even consider the Smack if I had to drive something bigger
Izotope insight on foobar crack#
My Crack is valued somewhere around $800 with the nice tubes and component upgrades I threw in. And technically, the Crack is my preferred option because it scales up further itself if you tube roll and swap out the capacitors and a few things to make it a very capable 500-700 dollar amp. I think I've mentioned this before somewhere but the <1k price range is a huge mess in terms of price/performance with the Crack in the mix. In this case you might want to try the LaFigaro 332. Only thing left here is the Schiit Valhalla which is technically inferior to the Crack. Unless you have DIY, the LaFigaro 336 is the other option in this price bracket. The stock Crack, even with stock tubes blowout everything else as the Asgard doesn't quite have the synergy with the 650 as it does with the 600. This price range is kind of sparsely populated. Other options would be the Audinst Amp-HP although you'd need to roll in a good OPAMP as well to get better synergy out of it. <200USD: Uber Muzik TTD (OEM: Racoon SG300), the amp section works pretty well on this one, doubles as a DAC. Try PA2V2 or other options in this price range would be to DIY a amplifier. <100USD: CMoy BB with dual power supply and a nice OPAMP rolled in, very fun sounding and the bass boost can further give the Senns the unnecessary yet irresistibly fun bass. I honestly want to say that the Crack rulz anything under 500USD and now that I think about it, I don’t want to listen to anything else other than it even if it’s cheaper. Also if you’re just going to stick with the Senns HD650 I would lean towards the LF339. Cost wise though, if you include rolling the stock tubes of the LF339 the two amps may as well as be roughly the same price with the shipping costs. Transformer coupled so it could drive low-Z cans as well.įrom the preference of sound, I do think they’re similar. Rolling in a good 274B tube could further improve soundstage depth and overall detail. (The LF339 comes with Chinese NOS tubes that I’d definitely swap out immediately)
Izotope insight on foobar plus#
Dual mono design may be good or bad to some but I won’t be bothered too much and I see it as a plus if the tubes are unbalanced. The LF339 is OTL so I would take it over the WA6 if I were listening exclusively to the High-Z Senns. However I would like the LF339 with a general warm and darker sound. Rolling in higher quality tubes could improve soundstage depth, detail and probably even out the frequency curve to suit your tastes.
Izotope insight on foobar upgrade#
The Sophia Electric 274B tube available as an upgrade option for the WA6 however is good enough given the price, just depends on how much are you willing to spend on the rolling. More tubes to roll however the price of two higher quality NOS 6AS7 and 6J4P family of tubes prices are still lower than that of a single rare 274B rectifier tube used on the WA6. I’ve only tried the LF339 myself, although I might happen to just go for a spin on the WA6 when I get the chance down at the stores. has A-Bed them but from their description they’re probably similar in sound.

I don’t think anyone can give you a straight answer since neither Mike or L. WA6 is (probably) somewhat cleaner sounding, but still very rich.

The sound characteristics could be described as warm, lively with good deep bass. LF339 is a OTL amp design so it’s not as good for low Z gear.

The LF339 is probably slightly more thicker than the WA6. One thing for sure that these are moderate paced amps good for Jazz, Classical and Audiophile vocal. the LF339 so he can’t give you a direct comparison. They’re both tuned very well for the high-Z HD650.
